First State Partners with Linked2Literacy to Support Foster Children Across Nebraska
A dedicated group of volunteers from First State recently collaborated with Linked2Literacy to assemble 1,000 EMpowerME packs for foster children across Nebraska. This meaningful initiative aims to provide essential support to children who often enter the foster care system with minimal belongings.
EMpowerME packs are carefully curated by the Linked2Literacy team to include age-appropriate books, offering children a sense of ownership and comfort during a challenging time. These backpacks cater to five specific age groups: 0-2, 3-5, 6-9, 10-13, and 14+.
After assembling the backpacks, the volunteers spent an afternoon loading boxes of backpacks for delivery. They personally delivered these boxes alongside team members from Linked2Literacy, to local foster care organizations including KVC, CDARS, OMNI, and Foster Care Closet in Lincoln.
It was a rewarding experience for our team to see their efforts come together and to know that we were helping to make a difference in the lives of so many children. Being part of such a meaningful cause was an honor, and we are incredibly grateful for the opportunity to support an organization that is making a positive impact in the community.
Linked2Literacy is a nonprofit organization dedicated to fostering literacy and providing support for children in need throughout Nebraska. Their EMpowerME initiative exemplifies their commitment to enriching the lives of foster children by equipping them with resources that promote education and emotional well-being.
