- 1912 – First State Bank began serving communities in Nebraska in 1912 as a state charter bank. The first branch was in Hickman, and later expanded to Lincoln.
- 2004 –First State Bank and the Bank of Yutan joined Saline State Bank in the First State Holding Co. family. The First State name was retained.
- 2009 – First State Holding Co. acquired Filley Bank.
- 2010 – Farmers Bank of Lincoln and DeWitt State Bank were also acquired by First State Holding Co.
- 2012 – First State Bank changed its name to First State Bank Nebraska to reflect the focus on service to Nebraska communities.
- 2018- The Nehawka Bank was acquired by First State Holding Co.
- Today – First State Bank Nebraska proudly serves customers in over a dozen communities around the state.
